Tuition and Payment

If you are a UNCA full-time faculty/staff member using a tuition waiver, complete the tuition waiver application.

Fall 2024 Distance Learning Costs

In-State Students

  • 5-week classes (1 credit hour): $198.50
  • 10-week classes (2 credit hours): $397.00
  • 15-week classes (3 credit hours): $595.50

Out-of-State Students

  • 5-week classes (1 credit hour): $921.33
  • 10-week classes (2 credit hours): $1,842.66
  • 15-week classes (3 credit hours): $2,763.99

Paying Tuition Online

Once you’re enrolled, you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to pay your tuition online with a credit card. Please be advised that there is a transaction fee.Pay My Tuition Online

Paying by Check

If you cannot pay by credit card, please send a check made out to “The Great Smokies Writing Program” to the GSWP Office:

Withdrawals and Refunds

Please note that refunds will only be given for cancellations received more than two weeks prior to the first class meeting. 

Students who decide to withdraw from a class after it has begun should contact our office immediately by email to ldanzis@unca.edu. Failure to attend class without completing the official withdrawal paperwork before the end of the withdrawal period will result in an F as a final grade.

COVID Policy for In-Person Classes

Please refer to UNC Asheville’s Expectations of Mutual Respect & Care for All. Our shared commitment is to take the necessary precautions to avoid spreading COVID-19 while following all recommended health guidelines.

UNC Asheville encourages health and safety best practices, including hand washing and staying home when sick. We respect each member of our campus community’s choice to wear or not wear a mask.

Parking

Please read all course descriptions carefully to ensure you know where your class is being held, or if it meets online via Zoom.  In-person Fall classes will meet in the following Asheville locations.

  • Karpen Hall (UNC Asheville campus)
    • After 5pm, visitors to campus may park in any Visitor, Faculty/Staff, or Non-Resident lot without a permit. The nearest parking lots to Karpen Hall are P16 and P17 on the campus map.
  • Hanger Hall School
    • Free onsite parking.
  • Grace Episcopal Church 
    • Free onsite parking.
